“All of life with the presence of God”

God’s underlying promise throughout all the Scriptures is for Him to be our God and for us to be His people. Although God created humanity to be in a unique, intimate relationship with Him, every person has fallen into sin and separation from God. However, the beauty of the gospel is that God reunites a people to Himself through the work of His Son, Jesus Christ. In this work of Christ, we are not only forgiven of our sins and saved from Hell, but we are united to God forevermore.

While we still await the fullness of the blessing to be with God one day, the church can experience the presence of God in our lives today. Therefore, for the church we believe all of life is to be lived with the presence of God.

The phrase, “All of Life with the Presence of God,” communicates two truths.

  1. All of our lives as Christians are to be lived in the presence of God, with the presence of God, and through the presence of God.
We do not only live spiritual moments on Sundays or in Bible studies. All of our lives are in the presence of God because Christ poured out His Spirit to be in us, always. There is no division for Christians of their time spent with God and time spent without God. We, always and forever, enjoy life with the presence of God.

  2. Where the church goes, the presence of God goes.
In Peter’s first letter, he calls the church a “royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9). A priest is a mediator between God and people. The church is now the place on earth where God’s presence dwells and is to be a people that represent God to the world. The presence of God goes where the church goes. This calling for Christians is to be the presence of God in our city. The city of Omaha will know who God is and what He is like by looking at the church. Therefore, we are to engage all areas of life with the presence of God through our involvement in our city, neighborhoods, and workplaces.

Providence, it is our joyful calling to live all of life with the presence of God in us. And it is our calling to engage all areas of life with the presence of God for those around us. A city will come to know God through a church living all of life with the presence of God.
